Four Pillars of Service

The 33 CER Foundation operates four core programs designed to preserve heritage, support our community, and educate future generations about the contributions of Canada's Sappers.

Public education program

Public Education

Educating the public, serving members, and the regimental family about our proud heritage.

Our Public Education program brings the history and achievements of the 33 Combat Engineer Regiment to life through various initiatives:

  • School Presentations: Engaging presentations for students about military engineering and Canadian military history
  • Community Outreach: Participation in local events and commemorations to share regimental stories
  • Historical Materials: Development of educational resources, publications, and media
  • Veterans' Partnerships: Collaboration with veterans' organizations to amplify remembrance efforts
Memorial ceremonies

Memorial Ceremonies

Funding participation in international memorial ceremonies to honor our fallen.

The Foundation sponsors members of the regimental family to participate in significant memorial events worldwide, ensuring the sacrifices of our Sappers are never forgotten.

In July 2023, the Foundation supported participation in the 80th Anniversary ceremonies of Operation Husky in Sicily, Italy. A plaque was unveiled in Leonforte honoring the 24 Canadian Sappers who died during the campaign, including at the site where the first Bailey Bridge was built under enemy fire.

Our memorial initiatives include:

  • International battlefield pilgrimages
  • Walk for Remembrance & Peace participation
  • Plaque and memorial dedications
  • Annual Remembrance Day observances

Regimental archives

Regimental Archives & Museum

Creating a comprehensive repository of regimental history for future generations.

One of the Foundation's most ambitious initiatives is the creation of a Regimental Historical Archives and Museum to preserve the rich 120+ year history of 33 CER and its predecessor units.

Our archival efforts focus on:

  • Artifact Collection: Gathering uniforms, equipment, medals, and personal effects from all eras of service
  • Document Preservation: Cataloging photographs, letters, official records, and historical documents
  • Oral History Project: Recording video interviews with veterans to capture their stories
  • Digital Archive: Creating an accessible online repository for research and education
